Scott Samlan, M.D., FACEP

Dr. Scott Samlan is Chief Executive Officer and a Physician Partner of NW Indiana ER & Hospital.

With more than 15 years of practicing Emergency Medicine, Dr. Samlan is Board Certified and recognized as a fellow of the American College of Emergency Medicine. His experience has earned him an outstanding reputation for problem solving, improving client and patient satisfaction, and driving overall operational improvements.

In Dr. Samlan’s previous role as a Regional Director at Vituity, he was responsible for overseeing the finances and operations for 9 emergency departments throughout the Midwest region. In addition to working clinically, Dr. Samlan’s responsibilities included implementing best practices for over 300 physicians and advanced providers.

Born and raised in Chicago, Dr. Samlan went on to complete his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin. He obtained his medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine, New York State/American Program of Tel Aviv University. After completing his residency at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, he became a core faculty associate professor of the EM Residency Program where he created and implemented a medical simulation program for emergency medicine residents.

Over the years, Dr. Samlan has received numerous honors for his achievements. He was awarded “Top Physician in Patient Satisfaction” by Advocate Sherman for three consecutive years. He has also been featured on CNN, Fox News, ABC, and CBS This Morning. Dr. Samlan is an accomplished author and public speaker with several published peer reviews, journal articles, and training materials.

When he is not working, Dr. Samlan enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter and son, boxing and cheering on the Chicago Bears. He is an active member of several professional and charitable organizations including the Crushers Club, a violence prevention and reduction program for high-risk youth on Chicago’s South Side. Dr. Samlan is also involved in medical missions, donating his time and expertise to healthcare facilities in Guatemala.

“This place is professional, and the staff are very courteous. I am new to the Northwest Indiana area and I’ve visited this place twice. Each experience has been superb. The providers go above and beyond to develop a solution and it is done within a timely manner. There is no sitting in the lobby for three hours, just to go to the triage area for an additional two hours. On each occasion I was completely nervous.
